About Down Amney Action Group

Down Ampney Action Group is run by local residents. We are campaigning against development that is out of scale with our village and would result in the loss of surrounding farmland. We want to protect the character of Down Ampney, its local services and its future.

We support suitable, sustainable housing and the gradual growth of the village. However, we believe the current proposals are too large, are not supported by enough evidence and lack a credible plan for the infrastructure needed.

We work closely with Down Ampney Parish Council but are an independent group and do not speak on its behalf.

Our aim

Our aim is to protect Down Ampney’s future by representing residents and ensuring their concerns cannot be ignored.

Why it matters

We support sensible, sustainable growth. But these plans are too large for our village and do not provide enough evidence or a clear plan for the roads, schools, healthcare, and other services that new homes would need.

With support from professional planning advisers, we are challenging whether the proposals are suitable and properly justified.

Amplifying our voice

Down Ampney Action Group is actively taking the voices of both local residents and the wider community to print, online, TV and radio media.

We are working hard to make sure the story of what is being proposed for Down Ampney, and what it could mean for the wider South Cotswolds, is heard by as many people as possible.

We will continue to raise awareness, challenge the scale of the proposed development and fight to protect our village, its surrounding farmland and the character of the South Cotswolds from overdevelopment.
